Fire-Cupping

Jana Brady, L.Ac., Fayetteville AcupunctureFire-Cupping is an ancient technique used by many cultures, in which fire is placed inside a special glass cup to create a vacuum-like suction. The cup is then quickly applied to the skin. The suction draws superficial tissue into the cup, which may either be left in place or moved along the body. Cupping decompresses tissue, breaks up adhesions in fascia and improves circulation of blood to the area to help facilitate healing.

While it is not suitable for every person, Cupping can be beneficial in the treatment of many health conditions including muscle fatigue and pain, musculo-skeletal injuries and limited range-of-motion, arthritis, gastro-intestinal disorders, circulatory disorders, some skin conditions such as boils and eczema, and lung diseases (especially chronic cough and asthma).
